In early August 2025, several subjects burglarized a pharmacy in the 4900 block of San Bernardino Street. During the crime, the suspects used a Wi-Fi jammer to disable the alarm system. Detective Herrera was assigned to the case. After authoring multiple search warrants and conducting several surveillances, Detective Herrera was able to identify, not only the suspects in this case, but also identified multiple other burglaries the suspects had committed throughout Southern California, Arizona, and Nevada.

On 9-24-25, Detective Herrera identified the suspects in our burglary, who had just committed a burglary in the Las Vegas area, and were headed back to Southern California. Montclair Detectives were able to conduct surveillance at several locations where the suspects were known to visit. At one of the locations, Detectives observed the suspects entering a residence in the City of Riverside, carrying bags of stolen property. Detective Herrera authored a search warrant for the location. With the assistance of the Pacific Southwestern Regional Fugitive Task Force, Montclair S.E.T., and the Riverside Police Department, the search warrant was executed at the location, and three suspects were detained. In addition to the suspects, Montclair Detectives located and recovered approximately $100,000 in property that was stolen just hours before in Nevada. The three suspects were later booked into the West Valley Detention Center for multiple felonies.

On 10-07-25, at approximately 0046 hours, Montclair Police Officers responded to the 9700 block of Benson Avenue, regarding an incident that resulted in the fatal injury to one person. During the investigation, it was discovered that three occupants were involved in a verbal altercation, with the suspect vehicle, while in the north end of Montclair. As the victims left the area, the suspect chased them throughout the city in his own vehicle, reportedly shooting at the victims. While in the area of 9700 Benson Avenue, the suspect rammed the victim’s vehicle, causing it to collide into a tree. As two of the victims fled from the vehicle, the suspect kidnapped one of the occupants, who was able to later escape from the suspect while in the City of Ontario. She was transported to a local hospital to be treated. The whereabouts of the second occupant is unknown.

Officers arrived at the location and located the third occupant unresponsive. The victim was transported to a local area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. It appears that this is not a random incident and all involved parties are associated with each other. This case is still under investigation by the Montclair Police Department. Anyone with information regarding the incident, or the events that led up to it, is asked to call the Montclair Police Department at (909) 621-4771. **UPDATE**
The area around Buena Vista Elementary is now open for all traffic.

There was a traffic collision that occurred last night at Buena Vista Elementary. The school will remain open today, but OMSD staff and the Montclair Police Department are requesting parents to allow extra time for drop off, due to potential delays. Please follow all school staff directions regarding drop off and carpool if possible. If your student walks to school, all foot traffic still has access to the north and south ends of the school.
Meet our newest Parking Enforcement Vehicle — sleek, smart, and… seasoned! 🚔

That’s right — this trusty vehicle isn’t brand new, it’s newly repurposed! Once a frontline patrol unit, it’s been given a fresh mission and a new lease on life. Because around here, old police vehicles never die — they just find new ways to serve. By upgrading and reassigning this vehicle instead of buying new, we’ve saved taxpayer dollars — allowing those funds to be reinvested where they’re needed most.

You might be surprised to know that parking-related calls make up a large portion of all service calls to our department. From blocked driveways to fire lane violations, these issues affect safety, traffic flow, and access every single day.

So if you spot this familiar ride cruising through your neighborhood, give it a wave! It may look like the past, but it’s driving us into a smarter, more efficient future. 🚓
