On 06/12/2025, the Special Enforcement Team (SET), conducted routine patrol at 4118 Mission Boulevard. A male subject was seen urinating in public and immediately began walking away from officers. Officers gave commands to stop, which he ignored. The male reached into his waistband to retrieve a handgun.
Officers took the male to the ground, which caused the male to drop the handgun. The handgun was un-serialized and semi-automatic. The subject arrested was a convicted felon currently out on bail and is a documented gang member. It was learned that the male subject was involved in a shooting two weeks prior in the City of Hemet; an additional eight firearms were found in his possession at that time, including handguns and rifles.
The officers and the subject were uninjured during the encounter. The subject was taken into custody and booked for: Felon in possession of a firearm, Carrying a loaded firearm as not the registered owner, Prohibited person from possessing ammunition, and Resisting an officer.
We commend our Montclair SET Officers on the hard and dangerous work they do to ensure the safety of our Montclair community and their efforts to minimize gang violence.

At approximately 2:00pm, the Montclair Police Department (MPD) received a call of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 4400 block of San Bernardino Street. The suspect in this case was determined to also be the suspect of an assault with a deadly weapon involving a firearm last Sunday, July 6th, 2025.
The suspect was positively identified and barricaded himself in a house located in the 9700 block of Ramona Avenue. The subject refused to come out and was seen walking in the backyard of the property, wearing what appeared to be body armor, manipulating what appeared to be a firearm. At one point, the suspect pointed that weapon at one of the MPD officers who was on the perimeter.
Members of the Upland/Montclair Police Department Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) were notified and were in the process of responding to the scene to take over the critical incident. Before SWAT members took over the incident, the suspect fled on foot from the residence and a foot pursuit ensued, which followed the three hour standoff. The suspect entered the San Antonio wash and fled southbound towards Benito Street where a Montclair police officer involved shooting occurred (in the wash). The suspect was not injured nor were any officers. The suspect was eventually taken into custody and two replica firearms were recovered from the shooting scene that were in the suspect’s possession.
The suspect was taken into custody for multiple charges to include assault with a deadly weapon against a peace officer, resisting a police officer, and criminal threats. He was transported by medical personnel to a local hospital for precautions, to later be booked at the West Valley Detention Center.

**UPDATE**
There has been an officer involved shooting inside the San Antonio Wash near Benito Street. No one was injured during the shooting and two replica firearms were located on scene. We request the public to remain out of the area.
The 4400 block of San Bernardino Street is now open for public access.
