Entry Level Dispatcher
An Entry Level Dispatcher is usually the first point-of-contact when an emergency arises, or law enforcement services are needed. They answer emergency and non-emergency phone calls, communicate with department personnel via various forms of equipment, and utilize computers and software to make data entries and retrieve information regarding calls for service, vehicles, people, weapons, and more.
Requirements
- Submit a City of Montclair Application
- Type 40 Net Words per Minute (WPM), typing certificate required with application
- G.E.D or High School Diploma
- Successfully pass NTN Dispatcher exam
- Susscessfully pass a background check
- Successfully pass a medical exam
- Successfully pass an oral interview
- Successfully pass a polygraph exam
- Successfully pass a psychological exam
Salary
The starting salary for an entry level dispatcher is $57,180.

Police Cadet
Under limited supervision, a police cadet works with the Special Services Division of the Police Department.
The role involves varied tasks supporting the police department, providing valuable exposure and experience for those interested in a future law enforcement career.
They are part-time employees with no benefits.

- Minimum 18 years of age at time of appointment

- Valid California driver license, good driving record and proof of insurability
