Captain Brian Ventura

Captain Brian Ventura is a native of Montclair. He honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1996 – 2000, where he was an Airborne Infantryman assigned to a Long Range Surveillance Company at Fort Bragg, NC. In March 2001, Captain Ventura began his law enforcement career with the Montclair Police Department. He served in many different positions to include Patrol, Gangs, Field Training Officer, Motor Officer, Firearms and Less Lethal Instructor, and Mobile Field Force.

In March 2006, Captain Ventura promoted to Sergeant. He supervised Patrol, the Field-Training Program, and the Crime Suppression Unit. He is a graduate of the Sherman Block Leadership Institute (SLI) Class 280. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy (FBINAA) Class 263 and the Executive Leadership Institute at Drucker (ELI) Class 4.

In June 2013, Captain Ventura promoted to Lieutenant. His responsibilities included Patrol, Dispatch, Support Services, Investigations, Mobile Field Force, Post Training Coordinator, and the Office of Traffic Safety (OTS). Captain Ventura was also responsible for Recruitment, Hiring and Backgrounds.

In February 2024, Captain Ventura was promoted to Captain. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from California Coast University, and holds a Master’s Degree in Leadership from Claremont Graduate University. Captain Ventura is grateful for the past 23-years of service to the Montclair Community and looks forward to many more years of service to the City of Montclair.
