Lieutenant Michael Zerr

Lieutenant Michael Zerr began his career with the Montclair Police Department in April
of 2001 after graduating from the Rio Hondo Police Academy. As an officer, Lieutenant
Zerr worked a variety of assignments to include Patrol, Field Training Officer, Problem
Oriented Policing Team, Narcotics Investigator, and Detective where he was assigned
to investigate crimes against children and sex crimes.

In August 2013, Lieutenant Zerr was promoted to Sergeant where his assignments
included the supervision of Patrol, Field Training Program, Major Accident Investigation
Team, Crime Suppression Unit, and the Detective Bureau. He is a graduate of the
Sherman Block Leadership Institute (SLI) Class #411, and is currently pursuing his
Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice.

In February 2024, Lieutenant Zerr was promoted to Lieutenant. His responsibilities
include the management of Patrol, Mobile Field Force, the Field Training Program, the
Police Explorer Program, the Traffic Division, Recruitment, and Community Relations.
Lieutenant Zerr is proud to serve the Montclair community as a member of its Police
Department and looks forward to many more years of service to the City of Montclair.
