Lieutenant Brandon Kumanski became a member of the Montclair Police Department in 2002 and attended the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Academy, graduating top academic in his class. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from San Diego State University where he also worked previously as a community service officer for the SDSU Police Department.
Upon graduation from the academy, Lt. Kumanski was assigned to the Patrol Division. During this time, he worked routine patrol, became a member of the Major Accident Investigation Team, and was selected as a Field Training Officer for the department’s officer training program. In 2008, Lt. Kumanski was selected for a Detective Bureau assignment and was assigned to investigate financial crimes and elder abuse. In 2010, Lt. Kumanski was promoted to sergeant where he supervised patrol and the Major Accident Investigation Team.
Lt. Kumanski was promoted to Lieutenant in July 2013 and currently is assigned to supervise the Support Services Division and is the current Peace Officer Standards and Training (“POST”) Training Coordinator. His duties include management of the Detective Bureau, Technical Services, evidence, and records. He has a Bachelor’s Degree from San Diego State University, is a graduate of the Sherman Block Leadership Institute Class 343 and the California Police Chiefs’ Executive Leadership Institute at Drucker Class 2.
Lieutenant Kumanski is proud to serve the citizens and visitors of Montclair and is thankful for the guidance and support he has received from the city and command staff, past and present.
